More Than Waffles Description:
We think the owners of More than Waffles doth protest too much with the name of their homey coffee shop, decorated like a country farmhouse. Sure, they have good lunchtime sandwiches, including third-of-a-pound burgers and tuna or ham melts; and salads such as a classic Greek. And the breakfast menu does offer 20 different three-egg omelets, including a Popeye with fresh spinach. But face the facts: We keep returning for the waffles, big crispy Belgian ones, made not just with regular batter but also in oat bran, seven-grain and even seasonal pumpkin-spice versions, served plain or with a choice of toppings including fresh berries, lemon pudding, bananas with fudge sauce, and ice cream with caramel sauce. You can special-order a mini-bottle of real maple syrup on the side, but we much prefer the ramekin with house-made fruit preserves.
