Hawks Restaurant Description:
Hawks is a surprising find in an area known for its chain restaurants and strip malls. The cool blue-grays, velvet-swathed bench seats and glistening chandelier are a world apart from its competitors. Unlike its neighbors, Hawks focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients, many from local producers, and its menu changes accordingly. Starters may include delta asparagus with hand-shaved pancetta, gnocchi with morel mushrooms or a house-made charcuterie plate. Mains may include such selections as crispy duck confit with butter beans, maple brined pork loin or braised lamb shank. The same attention is given to desserts, such as the slow-roasted pineapple with coconut sorbet or chocolate and chipotle bread pudding.

Review :
There's something about great service and amicable engaging people that gets your blood pumping.
Here are the five great things about this restaurant:
1.) Atmosphere. Beautiful, comfortable, elegant and sophisticated.
2.) Mike and Molly: world class chefs and friendly owners.
3.) Bartender: he's a certified sommelier and I would be comfortable calling him a mixologist. Order a Negroni or a Manhattan.
4.) Noticeably absent from the wine list are Silver Joke Cab (or Silver Choke) and Wrongbauer Chard.
5.) FOOD!
People who are driving from the Bay area to Tahoe for the weekend should be stopping here for a meal. It's only 4 miles out from the freeway and tops anything in its area.
Perhaps it was a little gluttonous of me to order the charcuterie, foie gras AND the wine pairing meal, but WTF you only live once.
