Frankie & Lola's Front St Cafe Description:
This funky breakfast and lunch spot won't be the ticket for everyone, but it's exactly what you'd expect from a place that describes its fare as "super freakin' crazy good." Chef-owner Kirk Sowell is serious about his food---and makes many items from scratch---but definitely has fun with his ever-evolving menus. Breakfast options run the gamut from fried green tomato Benedict on grits to a Brie and ham omelet to Oaxacanero burritos with house-made chorizo. For a light lunch, you can't go wrong with a bowl of the hearty tri-tip chili or the combo of flavors in the grilled pear and spinach salad with candied pecans, goat cheese, blood orange and prosciutto. For bigger appetites, try the pulled pork sandwich with not-too-sweet coleslaw or the over-the-top Frankie cheeseburger with avocado, a fried egg and a crispy onion ring. Desserts change frequently, but usually include a cheesecake or two. There's only bottled premium beer available, but the compact wine list offers a selection of local favorites. Seating can be hard to come by at peak meal times, so plan accordingly, but every spot has a great view of Morro Rock and the harbor.
