Cork Tree Cellars Description:
Not so long ago, the thought of a wine bar in quaint little Carpinteria would have been laughable. The beach town famous for burgers remains happily unsophisticated, but proprietor Jessica Pintard's adventurous foray brings an urban touch to a decidedly casual setting. The interior space is hip and stylish, with tightly packed tables. Local artwork adorns the walls. Light meals and small plates comprise the menu, and while the wine list isn't particularly extensive, several wine flights are available. If you like what you try, pick up a bottle to bring home. When it comes to food, panini and creative small plates such as lobster and white truffle macaroni and cheese are the best options. The char-grilled heart of romaine salad puts an interesting twist on traditional raw salads. And if you just can't get out of Carp without having a burger, Corktree uses California Kobe-style beef to make a selection of specialty burgers served with house-made chips and french fries. While the concept and décor speak of big city sophistication, the vibe remains mellow, with unaffected service and a casual atmosphere.
