Whaling Station Prime Staeks & Seafood Description:
Local TV chef John Pisto's gregarious and genuine nature draws crowds (though fewer since he's sold off two of his Peninsula restaurants) to his namesake steakhouse with contemporary and cozy quarters in a former whaling station. Whopping wood-grilled steaks are exclusively USDA Prime beef, including the 32-ounce porterhouse and slow roasted prime rib. Fresh seafood dishes include pan-fried local sand dabs with caper butter sauce, and salmon stuffed with Dungeness crab and chanterelles. Diners can't go wrong with Pisto's cioppino. Pisto has an obvious love for food: he's known to go mushroom hunting, and his travels revolve around all things culinary. Too bad his passion gets mucked up as the menu reads more like an advertisement for an ego than a sincere dining milieu.
