Tokyo Delve's Sushi Bar Description:
L.A. is a big enough city to allow room for the offbeat. The irresistible peculiarities of Tokyo Delve's, therefore, are hardly even questioned. Located in the NoHo Arts District, Yuichi Tani's 1986 Tokyo import serves respectable sushi in a setting that's the polar opposite of a serene Japanese rock garden. But rock it does. Sushi chefs, dressed in fluorescent green and pink, dance and sing to deafening beats. After making your way past a facade befitting an old biker bar, you'll find a balloon-filled interior with a backlit replica of the Hollywood sign. Some diners actively participate in the wild goings-on, while others are content to simply observe and eat. The large menu of inventive but affordable rolls is highlighted by the Pink Panther---King salmon, shrimp, avocado and smelt egg; and the Loch Ness Monster---shaped like Nessie and utilizing spicy salmon, avocado and asparagus. Hot entrées include chicken teriyaki and sukiyaki. To drink, order the Tsunami, Kamizake, or drop a saké bomb. For dessert, icy creations are highlighted by the "Healthy" Pa-Pu-A, yogurt heaped with kiwi, peaches, pears, honeydew, melon, Mandarin orange, banana, lime sherbet and blueberry sauce.
