The Victorian Restaurant Description:
The Victorian style of this venerable hotel is worth the price of admission. Beautiful Persian rugs and a massive mahogany bar grace the dining room, topped with a stained-glass dome, rumored to be a Tiffany. If you'd rather not feel the pressures of a formal setting, slouch in the unstuffy lobby lounge bistro. The lighter, airier garden room serves up breakfast and lunch. Trendy dishes don't make it on any of the menus---that would be gauche. But look for first-rate French onion soup and a New England-style clam chowder. At dinner we like both the oven-roasted free-range chicken in a bourguignon sauce with garlic mashed potatoes and the double pork chop with apple relish.
