The Grill & Bar at Torrey Pines Description:
The Lodge at Torrey Pines is known for its gorgeous architecture and sumptuous meals at A.R. Valentien. What most people might not know is that it boasts a casual, cozy spot called The Grill. It's perfect for after-golf or -swimming meals for guests, but also ideal for locals looking for dependable food with no pretense. Our favorite? The drugstore-style hamburger recalls days past with a combination of beef, tart pickle, creamy mayo and toasted bun. The menu also offers standards like shrimp cocktail, fried calamari and Dungeness crab cakes. We like the blackberry vinaigrette that tops the spinach salad, as well as the flavorful flat iron steak and garlicky shrimp fettuccine. Desserts are not a forte, so we opt for the Henry Weinhard's root beer float.
