Sidewalk Cafe Description:
The best seat on the Venice Boardwalk is undoubtedly here at Sidewalk Café. Dining on the crowded outdoor patio can be immensely entertaining, especially on weekends when the passing parade of humanity turns into a veritable freak show. Unfortunately, to enjoy this, you'll have to put up with humdrum, middle-of-the-road American food and a truly dingy interior. Keep your choice as simple as possible---a no-frills omelet or burger. Since the café arose out of Small World Books, sandwiches are named for authors. The Hemingway utilizes filet mignon. Mario Puzo, the "Godfather of Italian subs," features capocollo ham, salami, Provolone, onion, lettuce, tomato and Italian dressing on a French roll. There are also pizzas like Cormac McCarthy, a fiery (and greasy) combination of chorizo, jalapeño and chicken.
