Zooma Sushi Description:
Zooma Sushi offers some of the best sushi in Malibu, and it's in a charming setting, nestled in a small hillside complex just south of Zuma Beach, surrounded by maples and oaks. The light and airy dining room overlooks a Japanese garden and koi pond and is usually filled with locals who seem to know everyone in the house. Start with the soft shell crab appetizer or deep-fried calamari, then move on to rainbow or spider rolls. There's a respectable menu of sushi and rolls, plus entrées like shrimp tempura and grilled halibut in ginger-garlic sauce. The apple or banana tempura and the tempura green-tea ice cream are commendable desserts. For such a tiny restaurant, they have a decent wine and saké selection. Mid-week, the specials are $2 less than on weekends.
