Sharing part of the historic, stone-structure Freemark Abbey Winery, this rowdy brewpub is a breath of fresh air in the wine-centric Napa Valley. Stop in to see many local winemakers at the end of a hard day's harvest relaxing to classic pub fare, house-smoked special barbecues and microbrews. Beer batter-fried fish and shrimp, blackened catfish and massive burgers are the norm, but prepare to be pleasantly surprised with mascarpone-and-potato gnocchi sautéed with red chard, shiitake mushrooms and a Marsala-brown butter sauce. Sports may be viewed on big-screen TVs if you want to hang out at the bar, or a quieter and private dining room is also available. Don't hesitate to ask for a sample of the day's special brew; tastings are encouraged!
