There's always a wait to get into these little Italian cafés. Their popularity can be attributed to two things: low prices and down-home Italian food. The massive menu is highlighted by Chicken Maria---a chicken breast sautéed with mushrooms, bell peppers, wine and garlic butter sauce; spicy shrimp and roasted corn risotto with red chili flakes, sun-dried tomatoes and cream; and hearty baked pasta dishes like bubbly lasagna and eggplant-topped mostaccioli with ricotta and marinara. There are even respectable pizzas, calzones and hot or cold hero sandwiches. If there's no room for dessert---and there might not be---take home some fresh-baked pastries.
