La Vie en Rose Description:
Gascony native Louis Laulhere has owned La Vie en Rose since 1984, so it's no surprise that this place is about as close to a typical Périgord country farmhouse as you're likely to find in Southern California, with a turret and several picturesque dining rooms with tapestry-covered booths. The full bar is located in the turret, and a huge stone fireplace dominates the lobby. The lunch menu features many entrée salads and pasta dishes as well as heartier options such as bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin. For dinner, try the lobster ravioli and follow with sautéed sea scallops, crispy duck leg confit, and grilled mahi mahi served with green grape relish. The wine list offers California, French and Italian selections, many by the glass. The very French signature desserts include the Grand Marnier soufflé and crêpes with fresh strawberries.
