Havana Sandwich Company Description:
Building on the success of Big Mike's Philly Steaks & Subs down Main Street, Mike Neimark opened this strip mall sandwich shop with John Shapiro. Pressed Cuban sandwiches are served on foot-long slabs of fluffy bread. The classic Cubano is one of the best incarnations in Los Angeles, featuring juicy shredded pork, sliced ham, pickles and cheese. Havana Bowls contain white rice, black beans and mango-accented pico de gallo. Top your bowl with ropa vieja and crispy fried chicken strips lacquered with jerk spices. To drink, opt for Hatuey, a beer originally bottled in Havana. If you still have stomach space, consider the Havana Banana, caramelized fried banana with vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of caramel sauce and whipped cream.
