Gar Woods Grill Description:
The restaurant takes its name from Garfield Wood, who designed many of the gleaming mahogany pleasure craft that once carried Tahoe gentry as they swanned about the lake. Wooden boats still dock at Gar Woods' pier in summer, heightening the feeling of being at a watery country club. Prosperous patrons come for straightforward fare like steamed clams, Dungeness crab cakes, lobster bisque, seafood pasta and light but substantial grilled ahi. A lovely brunch buffet is served on Easter, Mother's Day and in summer. The two major draws are the large deck overlooking the lake and the tasty but lethal Wet Woody cocktail. The uninspired wine list offers familiar bottles, but there's always the view. And your boat.
