Cafe Del Rey Description:
Location, location, location, as they say. What about this one overlooking the Marina---where very few dining options are available---and its ballet of boats? And, of course, the show is more impressive at lunch or at brunch. With its soaring ceilings, wraparound windows and sleek lines, this is among the most handsome spots in town. Although the Café has long been known for its architectural presentations of California cuisine laced with bold Asian influences, current chef Jason Niederkorn has added some Mediterranean-inspired dishes to the mix. Sure, you'll find items like Vietnamese duck rolls and sushi rolls, but you'll also encounter truffle pizza, white corn agnolotti in brown butter sauce and lamb with merguez sausage, creamy polenta and garlic piperade. End your meal with almond croissant bread pudding, strawberry shortcake or an artisanal cheese plate. Wine is taken seriously, displayed in a glassed-in cellar visible as you enter the restaurant. Live music is heard in the lounge, and the jazz band that used to play at Maple Drive enhances the experience at brunch.
