Cafe Mundial Description:
John Itomura's charming little gem in Old Town Monrovia sets high culinary standards and achieves them. Classic music, white tablecloths, fresh flowers, custom-designed chairs and hanging polished-steel sculptures of the sun, moon and earth create an artistic and even romantic ambience, marred only slightly by a high noise level. Mundial is a Spanish word meaning "of the world...no borders." Appropriately, Mundial's menu is a tapestry of diverse international ingredients and flavors skillfully prepared and beautifully presented. Crab cakes in a mustard seed sauce and the house specialty, coq au vin, are prime examples of the kitchen's ability to turn out top-quality dishes. We strongly suggest leaving room for homemade desserts such as the warm apple tart topped with apple-cinnamon gelato.
