The Willows Description:
Worlds removed from the cigarette smoke and slot machines, the restaurant resides in an unexpectedly elegant setting. Compared to the hoopla going on downstairs, the well appointed dining room is an oasis of calm, where Prime steaks and top quality seafood can be savored with a glass of local wine. Chef Anthony Minnitti does a fine job in the kitchen. His "Heavy Weight" steak---a 16-ounce New York cut---would be tender and flavorful on its own, with just a dash of salt and pepper, but Minnitti kicks it up a notch with the robust flavor of blue cheese-Cabernet butter. He adds a creative touch to his beef carpaccio as well, dressing the appetizer with a shiitake mushroom relish and white truffle oil, which works quite well. While the seafood entrées are well executed, it is somewhat disappointing that the menu features no local fare, given the high quality of Santa Barbara spot prawns and other items.
