Maki Yaki Description:
By suburban standards, Los Gatos is a first-rate sushi town. Without ever leaving a two-block stretch of downtown, fish fans can pick from three fine sushi spots---Sushi on the Run, Kamakaura and Maki Yaki 9. The kind way to describe Maki Yaki, the first Bay Area outpost of a Southern California chain, is cozy. (Others might counter with cramped.) One way or another, this restaurant, which somehow manages to fit five tables into a space not much bigger than a walk-in closet, is a true small-budget treasure. A single sushi roll, ranging in price from $4.25 for the meaty California to $8.95 for the more exotic Green Dragon (a mix of shrimp tempura, fresh-water eel, crab meat, cucumber and avocado), is meant to be ordered as an entrée. Indeed, with eight overstuffed slices delivered with a small side salad, you won't need much more.
