Hearth in the Cottonwoods Description:
Though it's only open on weekend nights, Hearth in the Cottonwoods is a haven for foodies, especially those of the locavore variety. During the week, this unassuming building serves as the bustling production facility for Full of Life Flatbread; on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, the space turns into a vibrant but cozy dining room with busy cooks sliding crusty flatbreads out of the oak-fired oven in the middle of the room. All of the flatbreads are made with organic flour and topped with locally grown and-or sustainably grown ingredients. Standard offerings include a slow-cooked tomato sauce and three-cheese pie, and each weekend the kitchen also creates special flatbreads, such as a zucchini flatbread with basil-spinach pesto and goat cheese. The rest of the menu also changes depending on the season and availability, but expect to find dishes like wild arugula salad with almonds and tangerines, burrata with fava bean toasts and baby lettuces, Morro Bay oysters, and homemade sorbet. The beverage list doesn't disappoint, with a fine selection of local wines and microbrews---a good thing since you may have to relax a bit in the bar while you wait for a table to open up.
