Rimel's Rotisserie Description:
We like the sustainable approach to eclectic cuisine at Rimel's (founded in La Jolla) and its low-key yet attentive service. Salads include the Pacific Rim, with crisp romaine, red cabbage and wontons in a honey soy sesame dressing, and a lovely Caesar with wood-smoked croutons. Freshly made dressings like olive oil, garlic and lemon, served on field greens, make the svelte set happy. Tacos and overstuffed burritos dense with beans, roasted potatoes, cheese, salsa fresco and fiery green chili garlic sate hungry surfers. Steaming rice bowls call for shrimp, tofu, mahi mahi, rotisserie chicken or turkey. Wood-fired burgers are made with grass-fed sirloin, ground by their own butcher shop, Homegrown Meats. Rimel's personal local fishermen pull the catch from the sea, so it's straight to your plate. The sea bass (a fish-of-the-day special, and not always offered) is flaky and delicate with fire-crusted skin, and enlivened by spicy sriracha. Owners Matt and Jacqueline Rimel are also the proprietors of Zenbu next door so, needless to say, the ahi is high quality. It's a family-friendly neighborhood haunt with live music, and a good date spot.
