Calling all vagabonds, artists and lovers: Get in touch with Big Sur's (and maybe your own) bohemian roots. A ride along scenic Highway One should include a stop at Nepenthe, the spot as much a star as those filmed here---that is, Burton and Taylor in the '60s classic "The Sandpiper." Scoring a table outdoors is the afternoon play. So is ordering a cheese board or an Ambrosia burger, ground steak and top-secret sauce that never fails to delight. Dinner specials change nightly and warm specialty drinks such as the Nepenthe C & C (Chartreuse and Cognac) take the chill out of the fog.
