Le Bistro Description:
Although one does not expect a bistro to be tucked in a château, the unusual combination here at the end of the day comes as a pleasant surprise. The château appellation is represented by a floor to wall carpeting of rose marble and by a myriad of Murano hand-blown pink chandeliers. A fireplace warms up a large room that is not otherwise that much evocative of the usual elbow-to-elbow intimacy of a bistro. Under reproductions of Marc Chagall paintings, the tables indeed are well-spaced and inviting. If the menu does not reveal, per se, any major surprise with its expected standard offerings, the good surprise comes to the table with the meticulous execution of the classic dishes and the attention to details. For example, all of the entrées are served with nicely presented baby vegetables. We hail this chef who does not pretend to do more elaborate appetizers than a savory crab cake, a robust clam chowder, a French onion soup, and baked Brie, but who does them all well. In the main dishes, the chicken Château with artichoke hearts, mushrooms and roasted potatoes was impeccably prepared and appetizing. A satisfying moment after a day climbing or descending the mountains. Good and inexpensive wine by the glass. Friendly service.
