Café 140 South Description:
Smith Brothers Restaurants (Parkway Grill, Arroyo Chophouse, Smitty's Grill) has changed the name of its long-running Crocodile Café to Café 140 South, transforming it into more of a brasserie concept, although much of the casual California fare remains the same. Creative pizzas and globally-inspired appetizers (e.g. chicken pot stickers with lime-ginger sauce, crab cakes, blue corn taquitos) and good burgers continue to draw local diners. Panini include the Italian-inspired Autostrada and a Spanish version with chorizo, Manchego cheese and piquillo peppers. Larger plates include pastas, an Angus beef pot roast, grilled Cuban-style chicken breast and fresh fish, but the pizzas, sandwiches and salads are generally the best bets. The sidewalk patio, adjacent to a shady courtyard, is a pleasant place to dine before hitting the shopping on Lake Avenue.
