In the mood for a little American romance? Orange Hill, as its name suggests, sits above Orange County, offering a one-of-a-kind view, especially during and after sunset. Longtime servers say there's one marriage proposal here almost every night. The view may not have changed, but the décor has been given a modern update and the cuisine by chef Ruben Galvez has been renovated as well. Chef Galvez has added some Asian touches such as a refreshing ahi tower, spicy Thai shrimp and a "drunken" mahi mahi. Still, the Continental vibe remains in such dishes as the signature Châteaubriand for two, which is flambéed tableside and prepared in a theatrical manner. Mains feature California seafood favorites like a portobello-crusted Atlantic salmon with mashed potatoes, braised spinach and a mushroom vinaigrette emulsion. Some come here for the three kinds of beef (filet mignon, prime rib, New York sirloin) or for the surf 'n' turf combos. An always-on-hand sommelier can help you select from upwards of 300 labels on the wine list, which includes all the well-known California names as well as obscure boutique bottles and notable French selections. A lively brunch happens on both Saturdays and Sundays and features free-flowing sparkling wine and a choice of omelets, waffles, seafood and items from a 20-foot-long dessert bar.
