Understated elegance in the 'burbs---this concept has made Gennaro's a favorite over the years. The setting is comfortable and quiet---ideal for leisurely conversation---and the service, formal yet friendly, is superb (upon your first return, you'll be treated like a regular). The pastas are consistently well-prepared---even the simplest angel hair with tomatoes and basil is memorable---and the kitchen does a particularly fine job with risotto. You can find excellent salmon, sweetbreads, veal, and beef dishes---mostly old-fashioned yet delicious preparations. The dessert cart is usually loaded up with tempting cakes, tarts, profiteroles, and fresh fruit.
