Matt Denny's Alehouse Restaurant Description:
This downtown Arcadia establishment, named for the legendary son of an Irish sea captain, renews our faith in brewpubs. In addition to an ornately detailed wooden bar, it has walls decorated with logos from beer producers in Oregon and the former Czechoslovakia. There are 28 brewed beers. More important, the place actually has good food. Owners Matthew McSweeny and Dennis Hartman have built a large menu based on recipes Matt Denny supposedly developed while traveling in the Caribbean, Mexico and the Pacific Northwest. Eclectic offerings include beer-battered shrimp with chipotle mayonnaise; a "nacho mountain"; sandwiches topped with numerous preparations of cow, pig or poultry; and house specialties like Guinness potpie and grilled baby-back ribs.
