Tim's Rendezvous Description:
Owner Tim O'Leary turned this former speakeasy into a swinging restaurant and bar off the city's beaten paths. Though the interior's booths are a bit the worse for eighty years' wear and tear, the patio-garden ranks among the nicest in town and features two large pine oaks brought from down south. Chef Dunbar Berdine's menu features Cajun standards such as jambalaya and three types of gumbo. Delicious, moderately spicy meatloaf can be had as a big dinner or a late night po' boy, as can fried oysters or catfish. The special salad is excellent and portioned generously, featuring mixed greens with goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. More elegant entrées are featured daily, venturing sometimes from the Cajun theme. As a dining destination, the Rendez-vous is anything but elegant; for a casual meal reminiscent of warmer latitudes, it is formidable.
