Cozumel Grille Description:
Cozumel's name was chosen with help from its loyal customer base, built up while this Tex-Mex grill was still called The Outback. The heated patio doubles restaurant seating capacity in the snow-less months and private rooms are occasionally available. Always, the bar does a brisk trade, thanks to its more than 30 tequilas and wide selection of draft and bottled beers primarily from U.S., English and Mexican breweries. The menu includes basics like tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, and burritos; it excels at all. Unlike this city's abundant taco, sub and wing joints, Cozumel's versions often include red and blue corn tortillas and are always made with fresh ingredients, including their zingy signature salsas. Cajun-grilled rock shrimp and cactus strips (yes, made from real cactus) are popular starters. Wrap sandwiches and other entrées widen the scope of the menu. The Balsamic Garden Wrap and Grilled Vegetable Wrap will appeal to vegetarians, though there are also veggie versions of other dishes. A wide variety of steaks and burgers are available from the grill, but the gems on the menu are meats infused with south of the border seasonings, like the Drunken Chicken (chicken braised in tequila, with peppers and sausage) and the Mexicali Shrimp (tiger shrimp sautéed in white wine with roasted garlic and jalapeños).
