Beacon Street Tavern Description:
An upscale casual restaurant and bar. It was formerly a sister restaurant of the Washington Square Tavern, but there was a management split in mid-2008, and the restaurants are no longer related.
Outdoor dining is available in season on a large wooden deck facing Beacon Street.
The tavern is located near the St. Mary's stop on the MBTA Green Line "C" branch.
More visible and spacious than Washington Square Tavern, its sibling down the street, this woody, dimly-lit bar and grill nonetheless emits a similar aura of cozy neighborliness (with a lively patio to boot). It also proffers a similar menu, one that ably walks the line between comfort food and Contemporary creations. Asian accents notwithstanding, tuna tartare shows its rustic side here, chunky and spiced up; curried turkey tips are generous and juicy; fish 'n' chips are handled with the same dexterity as jerk chicken with fab sweet potato fries. Note: at peak hours, the wait can be a tad chaotic.
