You have got to eat at Grace's, our friend said, and we did. What surprised us most, however, was not the food but the décor. More closely resembling a museum than a restaurant, Grace's management has culled the antiques marts of every available Chinese city between here and the PRC to acquire an astonishing collection of memorabilia, from an intact rickshaw to Mandarin robes. This stunning array forms a dramatic backdrop for the food, which cannot possibly live up to the setting. Besides the décor, what does set this unique restaurant apart from all other shopping mall sites is the offering of low-fat cooking, which means decreased amounts of fat, cornstarch, and salt when requested, and the big, blow-out Sunday brunch, where patrons can fill up on such dishes as General Tso's chicken, crab Rangoon, chicken in garlic sauce, Champagne chicken, Triple Delight, Singapore rice noodles, egg foo young, and orange beef; they're not typical brunch buffet offerings and are costly dishes at other times. If you like drama, and are not fussy about the authenticity of your Chinese meal, then Grace's will be a sure-fire hit.
