Durgin-Park Description:
A local institution, serving traditional New England fare.
Reservations are only accepted for parties of 15 or more, and not at all on Fridays or Saturdays.
Even the most proper Bostonians have a hard time raising their noses at the long lines of tourists in front of this Faneuil Hall legend. That's because Durgin Park is one of the few restaurants which serves New England fare in all its unadorned, rib-sticking glory. Think of this as history on a plate; the Freedom Trail of hunger. Boston baked beans are made the way they're supposed to be: in a crock. Scallops, oysters and clams are fried-tastic. The days of surly waitresses may have gone the way of the Brahmin, but diners can still share long communal tables on the second floor. We can hardly make it through a meal here without ordering steamers, schrod or Indian pudding---unless, that is, we've got a hankering for the meltingest prime rib around. A tried-and-true-and-tried-again regional classic.
