Chilli Duck Description:
This Boylston Street subterranean has been a hit from day one thanks to its high-flavor menu of Thai staples and nifty digs smack in the middle of Back Bay. The bright tastes of the food, which makes slight concessions for the American palate, are matched by the cheeky décor: duck paintings and walls painted in creamy tones of rose and avocado. The signature dish is a fun one, with crispy shards of duck meat and sweet chili sauce countering steamed veggies, and the rest of the menu is built for sharing with dishes like kai jeaw goong sub (a Thai-style omelet, lightly soufléed, with ground pork filling); yum squid salad (a piquant toss of shellfish, lime, onions, garlic and fish sauce); and larb kai (a Northeastern-style salad of ground chicken, toasted rice, spices and mint). A greatest-hits roster of dishes like pad thai, green curry and satay are also available.
