Market Description:
When the W Boston anchored itself in the Theater District, it created a maelstrom thanks to its over-the-top service and sleek design. Add to this the allure of Jean-Georges Vongerichten, the French culinary wizard behind such restaurants as New York City's Jean Georges and Spice Market, and you've got plenty of buzz. Market certainly goes the distance as a hotel restaurant, playing on the concept of "hotel as home." To this end, the dining room resembles a comfy living room---no starchy tablecloths or stiff waiters here. Moreover, the food dances on the edge of adventurousness without being off-putting---there's a pleasant roster of pizza, meat, fish and the customary raw bar. We enjoy the peppier lounge menu, offering an array of raw items, burgers (try the cheeseburger with Russian dressing) and pizzas. There's a simple cocktail menu, but we prefer the house-made sodas, such as the ginger ale, best sipped near the smoldering indoor fire pit.
