The property's resplendence is evident from the moment you drive through the trefoil arches of the entryway into a lush courtyard with giant banyan tree. The restaurant's interior is lovely as well, the rooms of the home transformed into a series of intimate dining spaces. The menu offers a sensible selection of old-time American steakhouse favorites with more modern and global seafood treatments, along with pasta dishes and comforts(like maple-glazed double pork chop with red cabbage and cheddar mashed potatoes), both categories offering more bang for the buck than the other, much pricier dishes. Signature steaks from a bone-in rib-eye to an 18-ounce porterhouse satisfy in a big way, as does a deftly cooked, cornmeal-crusted yellowtail snapper with spicy mango-jalapeño vinaigrette. Desserts are ho-hum steakhouse choices like chocolate cake and apple cobbler, but the wine list excels. The Banyan Bar & Grill offers a dining experience as grand as the Bunyanesque trees that rise from its courtyard.
