Sol Y Luna Description:
Chef-owner Guillermo Castro creates Mexican tapas with contrasting colors, vibrant flavors and sumptuous textures. The sampler of house-made chips with fresh guacamole is a must-do. Shrimp cocktail comes in a martini glass rimmed with salt and surrounded by red and white chips; the glass is loaded to the brim with shrimp, ripe tomato chunks, onion, salsa and topped with avocado slices. We recommend the chicken tortilla soup and tomatillo lobster soft tacos with tequila cream corn sauce, pork tamal with chipotle sour cream or the red chile-crab meat enchiladas. Sweet choices include banana cajeta (goat milk caramel) crêpes or Spanish ice cream coffee. Classic hibiscus tea is tangy and satisfying, but the small wine list offers some good choices, and there is an extensive (45) selection of premium tequilas. In nice weather, the back patio is a good place to sit and savor the experience.
