Chez Fon Fon Description:
European charm and impeccably prepared cuisine keep this a bustling bistro. If it were possible to transport Chez Fonfon to a street in Paris, only the Southern accents of the customers would seem out of place. Moules et frites, croque monsieur, steak tartare and omelet with gravlax and dill crème fraîche are classic here. The notable hamburger Fonfon speaks fluent American with just a trace of French accent from the Comté cheese. This is Frank Stitt's third restaurant, adjacent to his Highlands Bar & Grill, but the simpler menu does not mean any less attention to detail. We suggest country pâté with pork, ham, foie gras and pistachios; or trout with brown butter, capers and Brabant potatoes. For dessert, try the bittersweet chocolate terrine. The wine list is well selected and reasonably priced; wine-lovers may choose their own flight of three two-ounce pours. If so inclined, adjourn to the back patio with a pastis.
