Aji-Nippon Restaurant Description:
One of Bethesda's oldest hidden secrets, this pocket-sized restaurant has withstood the test of time. And while neither trendy nor starkly traditional, it sticks to what it does best---offering solid traditional Japanese cooking. Aji Nippon may not set records, but its fresh fish, cut just so that each slice is tender and bite-sized, and its dumplings, wrapped in a tender dough, work just enough magic to keep customers coming back. We love the chirashi sushi, fresh-cut fish artfully composed on a bed of vinegary rice, and would make this a regular order here. Two drawbacks: Aji Nippon is off the beaten track, and parking is quite scarce. If you live in the neighborhood, however, you'd have to walk pretty far to find such good Japanese food.
