Although Bellevue's list of upscale restaurants has expanded, Bis on Main remains a personal and elegant option. The stylish storefront bistro offers a casual yet sophisticated ambience and serves well-prepared Italian and French-inspired dishes. Professional service, crisp white tablecloths, and subtle lighting make intimate dinners or small business gatherings popular. Start with the Mediterranean mussels in a coconut and curry broth, or choose the sun-dried tomato and ricotta gnocchi. Our favorite appetizer is an order of ruffled pommes frites with a classic cocktail. We also enjoy signature dishes such as the Dungeness crab cakes with Thai basil aïoli. Crispy, garlic free-range chicken with mashed potatoes, dry-rubbed New York steak with a balsamic reduction, and the Colorado rack of lamb also do not disappoint. Be sure to save room for the pecan pie. The wine list, while pricey, is well-chosen.
