White Naugahyde booths and hunting prints speak to this restaurant's old-timey past, but its future as a slice of India on Charles St. is secure. Crisp lentil pappadum with tamarind and cilantro chutneys fuel a browse through the menu, but you can almost point at random and be assured of a good meal. Crisp pakoras, spicy roghan josh, homey palak paneer, a pleasantly rustic lamb korma, all have their charms. End with a sweet taste of gulab jamen, the fried cheese balls in honey. Arrive at lunchtime or weekend brunch for the very big buffet.
