Chef-owner Jerry Pellegrino has assembled a first-rate, resolutely American wine list, generously splashed with the work of artisanal vintners and small-batch wineries. The result is a wine-lover's haven. This is not the Corks of recent memory, however; in 2008, Pellegrino and company shut down temporarily and returned with an amber-hued décor, a breezy, casual concept, and all-day service. Instead of classically-inspired cooking, look for such inexpensive light fare as a lamb sausage "corn dog" and a bison burger with grilled Vidalia onion. More serious entrées, called "larger thoughts," include black truffle meatloaf and pan-seared scallops with lemon-ginger beurre blanc. Cheese is a major menu focus, with an ample selection of American boutique varieties, and three kinds of fondue. The waitstaff knows the wine list well and delight in consulting, so query to your heart's content.
