Saint Louis Bread Co. Description:
The Bread Company, as it's known locally, constantly refines its offerings but never tinkers with its main formula: quick breakfasts plus satisfying soups, salads and sandwiches. This West County location's facelift includes comfier chairs and brighter paint, making it friendlier for girlfriends gossiping, and a wide range of solitary individuals firing up their laptops on the free WiFi. The caffeinated drinks are pretty standard; the chain is aptly named to highlight its strength. Bakery items include multigrain loaves and rolls, muffins, cookies and bagels (not the best in town, but passable). The café rotates its soups daily---we like them served in bread bowls---but the sandwiches and salads remain constant aside from seasonal specials. Sides are white or wheat baguettes, apples or chips. We suggest the chicken-bacon-Dijon panini, particularly with soup. Don't plan to close out your evening here; it closes at 9 p.m. during the week and even earlier on Sunday.
