Hunan & Peking Garden Description:
Though it looks like a typical Chinese restaurant in a suburban strip mall, this family-owned restaurant's immense, sweet-salty-crispy fried oysters are some of the best in town. Soups are good (hot-and-sour) to first-rate (chicken and mushrooms), and noodles with sesame sauce benefit from an extra helping of crisp green onions. The kitchen's ability with seafood is evidenced in green jade scallops and clams with black bean sauce. Duck, too, is treated admirably by cooks who roast it or steam it with sour plums. We're now into the third generation of the Lim family running this restaurant, and the newest generation is just as careful about what the customers want done with their food---even if it's the build-your-own eggroll.
