Threadgill's Description:
History was made at this original Crestview Threadgill's location where Janis Joplin got her start singing in the 1960s. This home-style spot still packs them in for Southern comfort food, although some tourists seek it for rock star novelty. Signature dishes include the chicken fried steak, which is as big as your face, along with the broccoli and rice casserole. Count on collard greens and stewed okra and tomatoes, two side dishes that we feel are a rarity at restaurants these days. Pecan-crusted chicken is rich and moist while bronzed catfish is crisp and piquant with Cajun spices. We like to tuck into the grilled pork chops with apple sauce on a cold winter's night.
