Mccormick & Schmick's Seafood Description:
The Gotham-esque Frost Tower, though no longer the tallest, is still the most distinguishable skyscraper in Austin's skyline. Down at street level is McCormick & Schmick's, a national chain that has managed to nestle into the city's local-leaning bias. The menus (and perhaps the list of 60-plus scotches) are what seal the deal. Fresh seafood arrives daily from around the globe, and considering the menu touts upwards of 30 seafood options, it's a good thing the waitstaff is well-educated. Oysters, of which there are six varieties, are a surefire way to start things off right; some are delicate while others taste, literally, like the ocean. The menu is ever-changing, but dotted with ahi, salmon, tilapia, scallops, lobster, and so on. Swordfish may beckon with a brightly balanced lemon-habanero beurre blanc and a lump crab meat topping. The trout is always nicely done with a zing of citrus. Steak offerings are available as well. The happy hour acts as a calling card, both pre- and post-dinner rush, with delectable recession-friendly options priced as low as $1.95 (including the wickedly addictive Shiner Bock fish taco).
