Meehan's Ale House Description:
Brews are the thing at this establishment that's very family-focused until 9 p.m.; after that, one must be 21 to enter unless accompanied by a parent. Besides the beers, there's a deep list of splendid single malt Scotch whiskeys. Huge sandwiches are key, while main dishes may include such proper fare as an Irish stew made with lamb, an occasional special. Tender morsels of lamb and chunks of carrot stewed with Guinness stud a rich stock that's a delight on cold days. The fish 'n' chips fish is lightly battered, not at all greasy, and comes in three portion sizes. The menu rotates every six months, but always includes shepherd's pie (albeit made with beef) and Food 101's famous meatloaf, as that restaurant is a sister institution. Bangers and mash and a traditional Irish breakfast are among the daily specials. Sticky toffee pudding is a regular dessert.
