Lobster Bar Description:
This manly "steak and potatoes" dining experience takes place in a space that feels like a gentlemen's club. We think the bone-in 20-ounce steak or the 40-ouncer, both for two, are the best values. The double-cut veal chop is a standout. Even vegetarians will find good fare, in the topnotch asparagus, sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. Onion rings are awesome pillows of almost tempura-light thick fried onion, and plump snails or oysters make good starters. We've not been fond of the sauces, so get them on the side for a taste test before seeing if they meet your requirements. The nearly book-length wine list has great depth in Champagnes and, naturally, is heavy on red wines. But if seafood is what calls you, head down to the Lobster Bar for a different feel and menu (though you may order its items from upstairs, too). Oyster varieties come from all over the world, with specific choices varying depending on what's best in the market. The lobster bisque with a dab of lobster meat is luxurious. The combo of shellfish arranged on an iced platter atop a tower is a good group starter. The chopped salad is easily shared for a mid-course, and fish dishes are so appealing it's difficult to choose one.
