La Petite Maison Description:
Sisters Aline and Cathy Silberstein---Cathy does the cooking---operated a restaurant in their hometown of Nice, France, for 25 years: Le Forum à la Plage. There's no beach now for the forum, as they've relocated to a busy thoroughfare in Atlanta, but they've managed nonetheless to create a very bistro-like establishment in the middle of modern American mayhem. This charming spot does all the French bistro classics, from quiche, croque madame and croque monsieur at lunch and at dinner a creamy, slightly pink house-made terrine of foie gras with chutney, steak with béarnaise sauce, and rack of lamb with Provençal herbs. We also like the assiette de dégustation (for two persons), a lovely arrangement of grilled peppers, warm goat cheese toasts and an assortment of other pre-dinner nibbles. The bread is a disappointment, as it's very commercial, and the wine list needs work, although a Domaine de la Batardière Muscadet will nicely make up for the lack of a proper Champagne by the glass (if only there were oysters to go with it).
