French American Brasserie Description:
With many of the same staff, dishes and atmosphere, Brasserie Le Coze has successfully morphed into French American Brasserie, and moved from Buckhead to the rapidly re-gentrifying Centennial Olympic Park neighborhood. While the interior is crisply modern, it still captures the Gaslight Era feeling of its predecessor. At night, lamps are dimmed, creating a most romantic glow. The fundamentals of French cooking are executed better here than they often are in France, so there's no sparing the cream and butter. Moreover, the service is American-style warmer but still professional. Regulars familiar with the monster portion of mussels in a creamy rich broth will recognize the pile that arrives as an appetizer, but could easily be a main dish. It's just one of the classics that permeate this menu, right down to the croque monsieur and madame that make their entrance at lunch. Sweetbreads and foie gras are all top flight. French American Brasserie does a first-rate job with its extensive shellfish and fish dishes, not overcooking any by so much as a notch. Outstanding, and a signature item for this establishment, is the delicate, sweet-fleshed skate wing with capers. Taking a page from the American steakhouse is a lengthy list of steaks and chops and accompanying sauce options. Desserts are classic French: crème brûlée, crêpes, galettes and profiteroles. This wine list is largely French, and offers many good choices by the glass. Several private dining accommodations include a rooftop space that provides a splendid view of the ever-changing Atlanta skyline.
