Mr. Stox Description:
Wine list features more than 900 selections, with a cellar of 20,000 bottles. Specialty breads are baked on the premises in a stone hearth oven.
Longtime owners Chick, Ron and Debbie Marshall have kept much of the restaurant's original décor, which now seems completely outdated, with kitschy '70s art, fading carpets and horseshoe booths. Through it all, however, chef Scott Raczek continues cooking up his signature and seasonal dishes, as well as baking artisan breads and growing herbs for his sauces. Regulars start with the Maryland-style lump crab cake, which comes with a spicy and crunchy peanut slaw and creamy tartar sauce. We heartily enjoy the savory watercress soup and its tender chunks of shrimp. It's hard to find good lobster in OC, so don't miss out on adding a tender and smoky lobster tail to your Prime New York steak, rack of Colorado lamb or prime rib. With a 25,000-bottle cellar, Mr. Stox has an extraordinary wine list featuring bottles from around the world. This restaurant is a draw for conventioneers and out-of-towners, as well as having one of the busiest event schedules in town.

I've been here several times and have always found the food to be top notch. The servers are excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining without being intrusive. I'm a bit of a wine snob - the wine selection is beyond reproach, well rounded and extensive.
